You’d never guess the secret ingredient in this recipe is black beans. This protein-packed recipe is gluten-free, refined sugar free, and can be vegan if you omit the eggs/yogurt.

Black Bean Brownie Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 can of black beans
  • honey
  • coconut sugar
  • melted coconut oil
  • cacao powder
  • salt
  • vanilla extract
  • baking powder
  • Optional: eggs or Greek yogurt

Recipe

  • 1 can of black beans, rinsed and strained
  • 3 TBSP of honey
  • 1/4 cup of coconut sugar
  • 1/3 cup of melted coconut oil
  • Blend
  • 1/4 cup of cacao powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Blend
  • Optional: either add 2 eggs or 1/2 cup Greek yogurt: Eggs will make it a brownie, Greek yogurt will make it a mousse and can be used as a cake layer
  • Blend
  • Fold in 1/4 cup dark chocolate chips (here are some sugar-free options)
  • Pour into a glass cooking dish
  • Bake for 25 – 30 minutes at 350 degrees F
  • Cool and enjoy, or place in fridge overnight
  • Serve with raspberries for even more tastiness 🙂
