Fun and interesting reads I've found around the web this week, and articles you may have missed on the blog. These weekend notes are all about summer.

  1. Work has been keeping me super busy in the best way possible. All of my energy goes into it and I find myself spending very little time doing much else on the weekdays. I am currently working with a variety of different functional groups throughout the company that I hadn’t worked with much in the past. It’s has added a completely new layer to my scope and I love it.
  2. I’ve been doing Duolingo for the past 55 days in a row. WOW! Learning French, Italian, and some Greek. The way they teach Greek on the app is not as organized as French and Italian. They start off with Alphabet and group the words by letters (i.e. “‘T and Throne'”) and I prefer to learn by category (i.e. a whole section on Greetings). I took Spanish for years in high school and it’s really enjoyable to train my mind to learn other languages again.
  3. Started watching Outlander yesterday. I randomly woke up at 4:45 a.m. and decided to watch something new on Netflix and watched four episodes. I don’t watch much TV and am so NOT a binge watcher (the exception being when I started Thrones) but the story had me hooked. The show concept mixes history and time travel and is really well done.
  4. Been spending less and less time on Instagram. (Diverting IG time to Duolingo!) Honestly, I’m over the fakenesss of Instagram and don’t want to waste too much time on there. It’s such a time suck.
  5. I launched my Pinterest course. WOO! Feels amazing to have launched it. Read about it here.
  6. I really want to get a mini lab puppy (hypoallergenic and adorable). In fact, I saw the exact breed I have been wanting today at the park and this one had the sweetest temperament.
  7. I got an Apple Watch in March. Years ago, in the early days of the iPhone, before the Apple watch existed, I thought it would be amazing if Apple made some type of smart watch. Yet when they did, I resisted getting the Apple Watch until now, thinking it wasn’t something I really needed. Well, it turned out to be a great purchase decision. The fitness rings are motivating and using the alarm to wake up in the morning has been a game changer. It’s a nice and effective way to wake up, arguably better than the wakeup light. I wear this light pink watch band and get asked about it all the time. It’s perfect and comfortable.
  8. We went paddleboarding this morning. Such a lovely way to spend time offline. The place we were at reminded me of summer camp. I used to go to Bible camp at Camp Sambica, miss those days! Something about summer camp is so wholesome and nostalgic. Pinned lots of cute summer content and by proxy, found lots of cute vintage content.
  9. On a summery note, I found a few cute pieces on Reformation. These Noble plaid pants, the Posie dress, and the Alexandra dress.
