My number-one everyday online shopping trick: USE RAKUTEN! If you’re not using Rakuten already, I highly recommend signing up and installing the Chrome extension. A coworker told me about it years ago and it has been such a great tool for online shopping. It’s free and gives you cash back on online purchases. I installed the Chrome browser extension and have saved $100s through Rakuten. The Chrome browser extension is great because it just automatically notifies you when you’re on a site that offers Rakuten cash back. Rakuten has a partnership with over 2,500 retailers, including Sephora, ASOS, Mango, Target, Macys, Nike, and Net-a-Porter. The cash back percentage varies by retailer. Some of the retailers offer as high as 20% cash back.
How it works: Retailers pay Rakuten a commission for driving traffic and sales to their sites, and Rakuten shares a percentage with their users. Cash commission is paid every three months, plus they give you a cash bonus when you sign up and shop. Definitely sign up if you’re planning on doing ANY online shopping this week. I can’t recommend it enough.
Use WikiBuy
Make sure you’re getting the best price. Wikibuy is another Chrome browser extension you can install. It searches for the lowest price, will automatically apply coupon codes at checkout, and lets you know if the price has dropped on something you’ve viewed.
Use Shoptagr
If items you’re buying are likely to go on sale, make a list now on Shoptagr and get notified when the price drops. This is another Chrome extension you can install and use on sites that support it.
