Celebrating Moorea Seal

Moorea Seal

Last night I had the opportunity to attend the two year anniversary party for Moorea Seal’s store in Belltown. If you’re visiting Seattle, you do not want to miss this place! Located at 2523 3rd Ave, Seattle, it’s just a few blocks away from Pike Place Market. It’s such a cute store filled with beautiful, carefully curated accessories and objects. The pieces are minimalistic, trendy, artistic, and truly represent the fresh and modern aesthetic that’s so often associated with the Northwest creative lifestyle. Best of all, Moorea has created a brand that specializes in highlighting other designers and artists. Many of the products are handmade by artists across the United States and 7% of proceeds benefit non-profits through Seal’s “Do Good, Do Great” program.

Pinterest Queen

If you’re a Pinterest user, you’ve most likely come across Moorea’s pins. As a graphic designer and a jewelry designer, she started a blog in 2009. By 2012, she became one of the most followed people on Pinterest and has been featured in a Pinterest case study. In the past year, she wrote her first book, The 52 Lists Project, which I mentioned in this post. The 52 Lists Project garnered the attention of Oprah and is sold in retailers like Barnes and Noble, Anthropologie and Urban Outfitters. This year, in addition to releasing another book, Moorea will be launching two new product lines. It’s safe to say that Moorea is the epitome of Sophia Amoruso’s concept of the #GirlBoss and I couldn’t be more excited to see what she creates next! I am so inspired by her work and what she brings to both Seattle and to the overall digital community.

Surround Yourself By What Inspires You

During the event, Moorea said something that really resonated with me: Essentially if she’s not surrounded by objects that reflect her personality or inspire her, she doesn’t feel whole. I hadn’t ever thought of it this way before, but what she said is absolutely true and applies to fashion and decor. If you wear clothes and decorate your space in a way that reflects your personality, you’ll feel more energized and less likely to feel a need to accumulate more, since you won’t be seeking to fill a gap in self expression. This also ties into the concept of The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up, which is a great read on organizing and decluttering.

Below are some snaps from her store. You can see more on my Instagram (@fashiontofollow) and Snapchat (@snipitysnaps).
