Coachella: What To Wear, How To Pack, And The New Artists To Know Now

What to wear to Coachella - boho outfit inspiration

What To Wear To Coachella

Coachella is almost as much of a fashion show as it is a music festival. If you’re heading to Indio, CA next week for the iconic event, you know that planning three days of effortlessly cool boho outfits is practically as critical as wearing sunscreen while you’re there. And if you’re like me, these outfits may be a little out of your typical comfort zone (but hey, you’re only young once, right?!). In the series below, I rounded up a variety of cute and affordable pieces that I would feel comfortable wearing to Coachella – or any music festival – and hope they inspire you to channel your inner flower-crown-wearing desert queen. Just be sure to drink lots of water, bring a spare charger, and keep your eye out for celebrities, who seem to flock to the event en masse.

9 Tips For Planning And Packing For The Festival

1) Research all of the artists on the lineup beforehand. Know which shows you’d like to see the most and prioritize. Keep notes on your phone and screenshots of the showtimes ready to reference.
2) Don’t overpack.
3) Bring a cheap pair of shades in case you lose them.
4) Apply and reapply sunscreen throughout the day and bring aloe vera to aid any sunburns.
5) Bring a scarf to shield the dust.
6) Bring warm clothes for when the temperature drops at night.
7) Pack hand sanitizer and baby wipes to wipe off germs and dust.
8) Pack a portable battery or a battery iPhone case. I like the ones Mophie makes.
9) Bring comfortable walking shoes. Even if they’re not the perfect match to your otherwise on-point outfit, it’s better to wear comfy shoes than to bring shoes you can only wear for so long and then have to carry around for the rest of the day. I know we just went over the trendy side of the festival, but at the end of the day, you should dress for yourself – ALWAYS – so be comfortable. Wear what makes you happy, what makes you look good, and what you’re comfortable in. 99% of the people you see there are people you’ll never see again; don’t try to impress anyone but yourself.

Music To Know Now

The playlist below is filled with the songs I’m really loving and wanted to share them here. On this list, there’s everything from Miike Snow, to Foals, (both playing at Coachella) to my favorite new artist that I can’t wait to hear more from, Gunderlach (he sounds like Bon Iver, but has a more Chet Faker/Flume beat). If you like what hear or have some suggestions for other artists, let me know. Music, like fashion, is always a mix of trends and personal taste for me. Discovering new music and emerging artists is like discovering a new boutique or shirt – it adds to your collection and allows you to grow your creative style. Enjoy!
