New Music Tuesday: Currently Streaming

Along with style, music is another big interest of mine. Fashion and music are, at basis, both forms of art and expression, so I thought it would be fitting to write about some of my latest finds on the blog. There’s something thrilling about discovering new music while it’s still on the verge, before it hits the radio waves, and I wanted to share some of my favorite picks of the moment with you here. Nothing beats having a loaded playlist on a long flight, so I’m always looking for more. Comment below with your suggestions.

BØRNS

I love every song I’ve heard by BØRNS and can’t wait to see where their career takes them. They’ve got a dreamy, electro-pop sound and I pretty much look like this every time I hear them:

Carlton Dance GIF

MisterWives

These guys are great! My two favorites from MisterWives are “Reflections” and “Our Own House”; this one really picks up at :45.

M.O.T.R. – Bronze Radio Return

There’s a little (a lot) of Vampire Weekend in their sound. I like it.

Saint Motel

Put these guys on your radar now. They are amazing.

Celeste – Ezra Vine

Ezra Vine – not to be confused with George Ezra – is new on the scene, and this song should prove he has staying power. I’m expecting to hear it in a movie trailer soon.

Cheerleader – Omi

Spiral Stairs – Elf Power

Lampshades On Fire – Modest Mouse

This one isn’t as new as some of the others on this list, but it’s so good. The guys from Modest Mouse are actually from my hometown, so I’m pretty excited whenever I hear anything by them!

Kendrick Lamar

Loving the Isley Brothers sample in this track from Mr. Kendrick. If you’ve been listening to “To Pimp A Butterfly”, the version of “I” below is better than the one on the album because it has less dialogue.

Coleman Hell

This one’s a catchy pop song with an electro-twang infusion (hear that banjo?). It’s been getting a lot of airtime, and it will get stuck in your head. Get ready…

Coasts

These guys are new to me. I’m really liking “Oceans”, “A Rush Of Blood”, and “Your Soul”; all three sound similar. Check them out.

James Bay

James Bay has it. He’s soulful with an Ed Sheeran vibe, and he’s got my repeat button on lock. My favorites of his are “Let It Go”, “Clocks Go Forward”, and “Hold Back The River”. “Let It Go” is more like a lullaby than anything!
